Blogging on Blogs!

I think that I might very well use a blog in my future "classroom" --the school library.  A blog would be a great way to publicize new additions to the library collection, as well as a means of communicating about the many different activities that go on in the library.  I think that most people, at least of the parents' generation, have traditional views of what a library is.  However, libraries today are so much more!  A blog would be a window for parents to look through to see the kinds of things their children are learning about in the library and the ways that information technology are impacting and assisting with students' education.  I believe that most parents appreciate being well-informed about the school experience, and a school library blog would be an enjoyable and easy means of sharing the library portion of that experience.

Beginning Thoughts

I am delighted to be in the Elementary Education program beginning this semester!  The courses are challenging and fascinating, and it is a joy to be progressing toward my goal of becoming an Elementary School Librarian.  I especially appreciate the focus on technology as it applies to our future work with students; because children are growing up with technology, it seems vitally important that educators find appropriate ways to use its many forms to enhance student learning.  I believe that this will be particularly important in the library setting as I work with students to access the information they both want (for pleasure reading) and need (for school projects).  I look forward to progressing through the program and eventually being able to apply my learning in a school setting.
